Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley File for Divorce

Wedded bliss was not meant to be for Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley -- as ET has just learned that Nic filed for divorce yesterday, stating irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Just over the weekend, Cage and Presley were out together at a screening for Cage's new film, 'Adaptation.' Adding to the surprise, it was only three months ago that the couple tied the knot in Hawaii in a super-secret ceremony, coincidentally on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the death of Presley's musical pop, Elvis.

Responding to the divorce filing, Lisa issued a statement to ET through her spokesperson saying, "I'm sad about this but we shouldn't have been married in the first place. It was a big mistake."

Cage and Presley met nearly two years before their wedding at a party; at the time Presley was engaged to musician John Oszajca. Cage was estranged from his wife, Patricia Arquette. By May 2001, the couple was a Hollywood staple, appearing at premieres, parties and charitable events holding hands. Then at a 2002 Super Bowl celebration in New Orleans, Presley was noticeably absent from Cage's side. Soon after, their respective spokespeople released a statement that the two had parted ways.

But by June they were "on" again, re-emerging as a couple at the Los Angeles premiere for Cage's movie 'Windtalkers.'

This was Presley's third marriage. Her first to Danny Keough lasted six years, and resulted in two children, Danielle and Benjamin. Less than a month after that split came her union with Michael Jackson -- that relationship completed its circle in about 20 months. As for Cage, he tied the knot with first wife Arquette in April of 1995. He filed for divorce in Feb. 2000, then reconciled with her. Arquette then filed papers in Nov. 2000.

Cage, Presley: Return to Sender
By Joal Ryan

The marriage has left the building.

The curious coupling of Elvis fan Nicolas Cage and Elvis spawn Lisa Marie Presley (news) is kaput, with Cage filing for divorce Monday in Los Angeles, after just three-and-a-half months of wedded bliss.

Per usual, Cage cited irreconcilable differences. It's not known exactly what cooled the couple's burning love.

Presley sounded remorseful--more so about the marriage, than the breakup. "I'm sad about this, but we shouldn't have been married in the first place," Presley said through her publicist, Paul Bloch. "It was a big mistake."

Speaking on behalf of the Cage camp, publicist Annette Wolf took the high road. "I did not talk about the marriage, and I am not going to talk about the divorce," the rep said.

Just last weekend, the two appeared to be very much a twosome, putting in a joint appearance for a premiere of Cage's new movie, Adaptation.

While it seems like only yesterday, it was actually August 10 that Cage, 38, and Presley, 34, were wed in front of Mother Presley (aka, actress/entrepreneur Priscilla) and their respective children from previous relationships at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows in Hawaii.

The marriage was Cage's second; Presley's third. Cage previously had gone down the aisle, in 1995, with actress Patricia Arquette (news). Their on-again, off-again union ended for good in May 2001. Presley's previous spouses were musician Danny Keough, the father of her two children, Danielle and Benjamin, and Michael Jackson (news).

In the strange-but-true department, Presley's 1994-96 union to the pop oddity lasted nearly seven times as long as her marriage to Cage. (Her marriage to Keough lasted a relative eternity--from 1988 to 1994.)

The Cage-Presley romance sprung in the spring of 2001. At the time, the Oscar winner, who has a son, Weston, by an ex-girlfriend, was fresh off his divorce with Arquette; the rock 'n' roll heiress was fresh off her broken engagement with singer/songwriter John Oszajca.

The two seemed both a good and odd fit. He was a professed Elvis devotee who skydived with the Flying Elvi in Honeymoon in Vegas; she was the lone child of the real Elvis.

But things soured between the two last February. The split was so final (or, so it seemed at the time) that it was announced in a press release from Cage's publicist. Again, no reason was given.

But Cage and Presley, apparently, couldn't help falling in love. By June, they were a couple again. At least until Monday, when their relationship was once again marked: Return to sender.

Marilyn Manson Exhibits 'Grotesque' Art in L.A
Fri Sep 20, 4:42 AM ET
By Dean Goodman

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Shock-rocker Marilyn Manson, infamous for ripping up Bibles and invoking Satan on stage, is showcasing another side of his twisted mind with a Hollywood art exhibit dubbed "The Golden Age of Grotesque."

Colorful watercolors of emaciated souls and grisly corpses greeted celebrities such as actor Nicolas Cage and his new wife, Lisa Marie Presley, at a launch party on Thursday.

Manson, 33, told Reuters he was proudest of a suite of four works called "Elizabeth Short as Snow White."

Short, known as the Black Dahlia, was chopped in half and left naked in a Los Angeles field 55 years ago in one of Los Angeles' great unsolved crimes.

Red Hot Chili Peppers bass player Flea was impressed enough to spend $30,000 on a portrait of Short.

"I make things that most people would consider grotesque a little bit prettier," said Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner. "I used a lot of child-like colors. I used a children's paint set actually, and it has a lot of pastels."

Manson said he enjoyed the creative process.

"The one thing about it that differs from music is that I can be alone, I paint in silence, just me and the brush and the paper. I don't know if it's cathartic. It's very relaxing."

The priciest item among the 57 works was a naked Hitler as hermaphrodite, at $55,000. But some were as low as $1,000.

In titling the exhibition as well as his eponymous band's upcoming album "The Golden Age of Grotesque," Manson said he was paying tribute to 1930s-era Weimar Berlin and Hollywood.

"I'm trying to bring back ... the excitement, the glamour, the decadence and take it as far as it can go." Another celebrity endorsement came from rock 'n' roll scion Jack Osbourne, who was trailed by a film crew for his family's hit TV show "The Osbournes," as he spent $15,000 on a Mad Hatter painting titled "Harlequin Jack as the Absinthe Bunny."

Concert reunites Elvis, fans once more
By Christopher Blank, The Commercial Appeal

After a week of speaking the name, studying the photos and listening to old recordings, even fans can start to feel as though Elvis Presley never endured the thousand natural shocks flesh is heir to. The legacy occasionally feels as complex as a quartet of syllables, a perfect face and a warbling voice.

But Friday night's "Elvis - The Concert'' at the Pyramid spectacularly united the three into the closest audiences will ever get to experiencing the real Elvis since his death in 1977. Though the show has been around for several years, the 25th anniversary of the performer's death warranted something special, something different.

And that's just what was delivered to the sold-out audience of Elvis fans gathered in Memphis from around the world. To the delight of all, Lisa Marie Presley even sang. Not live, however.

After intermission, the newlywed (to Nicolas Cage) came onstage and tentatively introduced a tune from her new album (to be released soon).

"You made me/I love you" out came her slightly country-esque voice.

The tune, written for her father, brought the crowd to its feet. Lisa Marie didn't have to say much. Instead the president of Elvis Presley Enterprises left the talking to her mother, Priscilla, who introduced the emotionally charged show by saying "you have given so much back to him.''

Newlyweds Out On the Town & a Priscilla Showdown

On Aug. 10, Lisa Marie Presley said, 'I do' to Nicolas Cage. Then, on Aug. 13, it was a Presley showdown with Katie Couric and Priscilla Presley's new interview airing against Barbara Walters and Priscilla's old interview. Both morning shows told the same story of an American legend who left us 25 years ago, and his only daughter's recent walk down the aisle. Access Hollywood's cameras caught the newlyweds back in Hollywood.

Just two days after their Saturday wedding in Hawaii, newlyweds Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley joined hundreds of revelers, including supermodel Giselle Bundchen on a Los Angeles hotel rooftop last night, at techno-king Moby's "Smirnoff Ice Party."

So, why aren't the happy couple on a honeymoon? Actually, the honeymoon's on hold because Cage needed to be on the Hollywood set of his new film, Matchstick Men on Aug. 12. As for the rumors swirling that Lisa Marie and Nic are expecting a child, a spokesperson for the couple tells us that is "absolutely not true."

Meanwhile on Today, Katie Couric continues to promote her exclusive Dateline interview with Lisa Marie's mom Priscilla. So with Katie getting the exclusive, her "friends" at Good Morning America counterpunched by re-airing excerpts of the first interview Priscilla granted to Barbara Walters after Elvis died. Among the topics was the reason their love was not consummated until their marriage. "He said that he wanted a virgin," Priscilla told Barbara.

And as life goes on for Lisa Marie, her father's fortune continues to grow even in death. Forbes announced that Elvis Presley earned $37 million dollars last year, making the rock legend the top earning deceased celebrity. The sole heir of Elvis Presley Enterprises is Lisa Marie and that includes the famed "Graceland" estate.

The Dateline interview with Priscilla Presley airs Aug. 13 at 10 p.m. on NBC.

Cage and Presley Wed in Hawaii

They were on, then they were off, and now they've both said "I do." In the surprise wedding of the summer, Lisa Marie Presley and Nicolas Cage tied the knot in Hawaii over the weekend.

Only "Extra" can show you Cage and Presley walking down the aisle on the lawn at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel on the big island at 6:30 pm on Saturday night. Glamour magazine's Suzie Yalof Schwartz says it was an intimate sunset. Cage's son Weston was there. So were Lisa Marie's mom Priscilla, and her two children.

This was 34-year-old Lisa Marie's third trip down the aisle. She was married to musician Danny Keough, the father of her kids, and of course who can forget her brief marriage to Michael Jackson. This is Cage's second time around having divorced actress Patricia Arquette in 2001.

"Extra" has learned the happy couple reportedly left the island Sunday and returned to Los Angeles on Cage's private jet, where the Academy Award winning actor was back to work on the set of his latest film, "Matchstick Men." For this happy couple, the honeymoon will have to wait.

Cage, Presley Marry in Hawaii

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage married Elvis' daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, during a romantic Hawaiian Island ceremony witnessed by family and close friends, publicists confirmed Monday.

The couple recited wedding vows Saturday evening at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows on the Big Island of Hawaii, Cage spokeswoman Annett Wolf and Presley spokesman Paul Block said. Cage is 38, Presley is 34.

This is Presley's third wedding; she was married previously to musician Danny Keough and pop star Michael Jackson. It was the second marriage for Cage, who divorced actress Patricia Arquette in 2000. They had no children.

"The wedding was in front of immediate family and friends," Block said, including the bride's mother, Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie's children - Danielle, 13, and Benjamin, 10, from her marriage to Keough - and Cage's 12-year-old son, Weston, from a previous relationship.

There were no other details.

Lisa Marie Presley is the only child of Priscilla Presley and Elvis, who died 25 years ago this week.

The couple returned to Los Angeles on Sunday. Wolf said Cage was back at work Monday filming his latest movie, "Matchstick Men," which Ridley Scott is directing.

Asked about a honeymoon, Block and Wolf said they "know of no other plans."

Cage won a best-actor Academy Award for 1995's "Leaving Las Vegas," and starred in this year's "Windtalkers." His other recent movies include "Captain Corelli's Mandolin," "The Family Man" and "Gone in 60 Seconds."

Lisa Marie Presley Weds Actor Nicolas Cage

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley, and Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage were married over the weekend in Hawaii, their publicists said on Monday.

Presley, 34, and Cage, 38, sealed their year-long relationship in a ceremony at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows on Saturday night, a spokeswoman for Presley said.

Among the guests at the family-only ceremony were Presley's mother, Priscilla, and her maternal grandparents, the spokeswoman said.

Presley's 13-year-old daughter, Danielle, served as a flower girl and her 10-year-old son, Benjamin, shared ring bearer duties with Cage's 12-year-old son, Weston.

The marriage is Presley's third and Cage's second.

Her 1988 marriage to musician Danny Keough produced her two children and ended in divorce in 1994. The only child of the "King of Rock and Roll" subsequently married "King of Pop" Michael Jackson in a closely watched 18-month union that was dissolved in 1996.

Cage shares custody of his son with model Kristina Fulton. He married actress Patricia Arquette in 1995, the year he won an Academy Award for best actor for "Leaving Las Vegas." The couple split last May.

Cage and Presley began dating last summer, making one of their first public appearances at the Los Angeles premiere of Cage's film "Captain Corelli's Mandolin."

Elvis Presley died at age 42 of a drug-induced heart attack at his home in Memphis on Aug. 16, 1977.

Lisa Marie Presley, the sole heir of Elvis Presley Enterprises, and her mother are expected to attend a concert marking the 25th anniversary of her father's death in Memphis on Friday, a spokeswoman said.

Wedding bells in Blue Hawaii:
Lisa Marie and Nicolas Cage say 'I do'

HONOLULU (AP) - Elvis Presley's Hawaiian Wedding Song might have been an appropriate tune for his daughter this past weekend.

A published report says Lisa Marie Presley was married Saturday to actor Nicolas Cage in a ceremony at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows on the Big Island.

Hotel staff members told The Honolulu Advertiser the ceremony took place on the lawn in front of the Eva Parker Woods Cottage, a historic building that has been restored and turned into a museum.

The ceremony was attended by Lisa Marie's mother, Priscilla Presley, and Cage's son from a previous marriage, staff members said.

Lisa Marie, 34, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, previously was married to Michael Jackson.

Cage, 38, won an academy award for 1995's Leaving Las Vegas, and also starred in this year's Windtalkers, parts of which were filmed in Hawaii. His other movies include Honeymoon in Vegas, which includes skydiving Elvises, and Raising Arizona.

Lisa Marie and Priscilla are scheduled to appear Friday in Memphis, where they will greet fans from The Pyramid stage at Elvis: The 25th Anniversary Concert.
