How much do you know about the Constitution of Japan?
はじめに英語ありきの憲法を一条ずつ英語と日本語を併せて
慣れ親しんでいきましょう。
文法説明はほとんどありませんが（あしからず）、
語句説明は英語です。内容は多少難しいかもしれません。
英語は飛ばして日本語を読むだけでもこの国の民主主義の
成り立ちを知ることになると思います。余裕があれば、
マッカーサーの英文原案からどの部分が変わったか
比較もしてみて下さい。国連憲章も同時に学びましょう。

CHAPTER II. RENUNCIATION OF WAR 第二章 戦争の放棄
Article 9. 【Aspiring】sincerely to an international peace
based on justice and order, the Japanese people forever
【renounce】war as a sovereign right of the nation and the
threat or use of force as means of settling international
【disputes】.
In order to accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph,
land, sea, and air forces, as well as other 【war potential】,
will never be maintained. The right of 【belligerency】of
the state will not be recognized.

【dispute】＝an argument, debate,
【war potential】＝the inherent ability or capacity for war
【belligerency】=the act of carrying on war, warfare

第九条 日本国民は、正義と秩序を基調とする国際平和を
誠実に希求し、国権の発動たる戦争と、武力による威嚇又は
武力の行使は、国際紛争を解決する手段としては、永久に
これを放棄する。

これを保持しない。国の交戦権は、これを認めない。
